By reducing the back pressure engine power is increased in four stroke engines, this applies to four cylinder, 6 cylinder and 12 cylinder engines.

Back pressure can be reduced by making the flow of gasses through the exhaust system follow a free flow, this can be accomplished by making the part as straight as possible.

This is done by making the following changes on your car:

• Replacing exhaust manifold with headers. This means that heavy cast iron manifolds can be replaced by pipes that go directly from each cylinder down underneath the car body. The pipes then merge together into a collector and then flow into a larger pipe (down pipe), This reduces turbulence in the flow, gasses move faster, heat loss through the system is less and speed of gasses is higher. This demands a very skilled technician. The manifold has to be replaced by a steel or stainless steel flange and the pipe bending requires time since usually space is limited. Cast iron manifold absorb vibrations, therefore single pipes with a thickness 1.5mm are not able to withstand the changes in torque, therefore a flexible is required to absorb these vibrations. This job is not easy, a car has to stay in the Garage for 2-3 days and the cost is high enough. Stainless steel pipes are ideal for this job but they increase the cost even further. However, switching from an exhaust manifold to exhaust headers will optimize the exhaust gas flow speed and in turn increase the high-end power of your motor.
• Catalytic converters. Removing or bypassing a catalytic converter may interfere with emission laws in Europe. Removing your CAT results in emitting Carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. We suggest a replacement with sport CAT converters. These have bigger cavities and allow the gasses to move faster.
• Changing the pipes with bigger diameter pipes. This permits free flow and therefore faster gas speeds.
• Changing middle and real silencers with straight through silencers: Straight through 60mm diameter perforating pipes silencers surrounded with e-glass is the optimum solution for improving drastically the power of your motor. In most cases the sound of your car will change and then you will not go by unnoticed.
